The 1 thing I’d do if I were starting a business from scratch today and wanted to grow it to $10 million as fast as possible

I've built businesses with over $450 million in sales and have helped others generate over $10 billion. Sharing what I've learned.

If I were starting all over again, I’d focus on 1 thing.

The whole game of rapidly growing a business today comes down to being able to afford to spend the most on traffic.

Outside of brick-and-mortar retail (which is painfully slow, as I’m finding out…), there are really only three ways to get traffic for a business that matter:

  1. Keywords and search phrases
  2. Other people promoting your stuff
  3. Paid ads

Here’s the secret, though…

The way to win with ALL of those long-term is just this: make a lot of money per customer.

That’s it.

But how?

I call it “lifetime customer profit design” (that’s a super fancy term I made up, in case you’re just now picking yourself up off the floor in amazement).

You design your business from the very beginning to make a lot of money per customer.

Here’s how:

  1. Choose a product that is either 1) sellable as a subscription (i.e., consumable) or 2) makes you a bunch of money when people buy on their first order (ideally, more than $100 in profit)
  2. Design your sales funnel to get people to load up their cart on every purchase (none of this onesy, twosy nonsense)
  3. Build your back-end follow-up machine to turn buyers into repeat buyers (so you can fuel your traffic machine and put a whoopin on your competitors — I think I’ve been hanging out why my country mother in law too much lately…)

When you do these three steps, you make more money per customer than 99% of other brands competing for the same traffic sources.

Then the Value Gravity law (another fancy term I made up) kicks in: Traffic flows to where it’s most valued.
